True PROFESSIONALS
FROM A passion TO A business

16 year veterans Gary and Diana Bean keep learning and growing their detail business. Like many detail experts, Gary's idea to start Every Detail Auto Care began as a passion in the back of his garage more than 15 years ago. As the business began to build a loyal base of clients, Gary decided to open up his own shop, and slowly built a small business. However it was not until three years ago, when his wife Diana entered onto the scene, that the business really began to take off.

When Diana came on board, they established a marketing plan and started advertising on a daily basis. The result? The business exploded. They started advertising on billboards, began making and handing out fliers promoting their services. They also put their company logo and phone number on vehicles, serving as traveling billboards."Most everyone knows our big red truck," Diana exclaims. "We also have a 30 second commercial running in Lodi and Stockton."

Today the business has four full-time employees and five bays. More than 99 percent of the stand-alone detail shops business comes from pick up and delivery. "When you are professional in what you do and treat the customer right, people respect that, then they tell their friends and family...and it just snowballs."

So the business is growing and customers are satisfied, but for those of us non-mechanical types, the question remains.

What exactly is detailing? And why do you need it?

Diana paints this familiar picture. "As a car owner, you have made a considerable investment in the purchase of your vehicle. Transportation is usually the second most important expenditure a person makes. You have to be pro-active and not reactive. You just made this huge purchase, you are still in sticker shock and protecting this investment is far from your pocket book. At the time of purchase you have been told that you do not need to ever wax your car because it has a clear cost or you are thinking, 'I can do this myself, on the weekends, before or after the kids' sports or after I mow the yard I will get out the wax and protect my car.' Sometimes it happens, most of the time, not. So what really happens is the new investment gets neglected, and time gets away." Now what do you do?

Here's where professional detailing comes in and why it has become part of the expanding market of service products offered to meet the frantic pace kept by many of today's consumers. Here's more explanation of what detailing is and why it matters.

WHEN YOUR CAR WANTS TO BE DETAILED

  • Simple car washing only removes dirt, detailing restores beauty and preserves the finish. Nature can be mean. Sun, salt and acid rain are hard on paint. Paint becomes oxidized and dull. Daily use also takes its toll.
  • Detailing rejuvenates your car inside and out, restores new car beauty to painted and upholstered surfaces. It also removes the build-up of dull haze, road tar, and oxidation.
  • Detailing provides long-term protection and preserves a youthful look.
  • Makes repeated car washing easier.
  • Detailing enhances your investment and helps maintain its value. Car paints lose shine the moment you leave the dealership; detailing helps restore that original sparkle and shine.
  • Semi-annual detailing enhances the joy of possession.
  • If you are selling your car, take a tip from the pros, dealers know that looks count and bring money onto the lot. Detailing your car gets you the top dollar you deserve. But why wait to sell, when you can enjoy a clean and shiny car right now?

BASIC CAR CARE TIPS

  • Wash your car regularly, especially after it rains or snows.
  • Wax your vehicle every three to six months. More frequent waxes are needed if your car is red, black, or white. These colors are more susceptible to acid rain and UV rays.
